The writer Karl Friedrich May belongs to the group of most popular German authors of all time. He was given birth to on 02/25/1842 and deceased on March 30, 1912. Karl Friedrich May wrote the first 3 Winnetou books and the 3 Old Shurehand books between 1890 and 1900. They are set in the so-called Wild West of North America. Interesting is the matter that Karl May’s first trip to North America occured in 1908. This visit took him to the Niagra Falls, Buffalo and Albany, but not farther west. Consequently his popular novels have arisen from creativity, imagination and factual sources as travel accounts, maps and guide books, as well as linguistic books.
